OK, I know that I'm still boycotting CVS, but I did this figuring since I didn't have to pay for it, it wasn't helping their cause!

If you sign up for photos at CVS, you earn 50 free 4x5 prints after you verify you account. Here's the link to the page: http://www.cvsphoto.com/account/register.aspx. Then if you have them sent to your local CVS, your order is free since there would be no shipping.

Black Friday Walgreens runs

Yesterday, I combined my regular Wags run with a Black Friday run. Actually, I did two runs; one about 7AM and one about 1PM.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to list all my deals because the Black Friday deals will end tonight and the others tomorrow, so it wouldn't be that beneficial. I did get my deals from www.bargainbriana.com and www.becentsable.net.

First run was a 133.96 retail. After sales, coupons and RR, my OOP was 55.06 which is a 59% savings. Here's the deal, I earned $33 in RR making my final cost 22.06 which is an 84% savings.

Second run was 78.13 retail. After sales, coupons and $29 in RR (couldn't use one since it was on the same product), my final cost was literally pennies meaning 100% savings plus the $4 in RR I earned.

So after 2 runs, I got 212.09 worth of items for 18.06 which is a savings of 91%. I will say I think my best deals were the Black Friday coupons for Wags brand ibuprofen, Zyrtec, Claritan, acetaminophen, etc for .99 each. They usually run $5-7 each. I scored some on both runs because you can't be that price for donating to CUM or our church's Anchor House!

Went to Price Chopper last night. I know, I have a very exciting night life. ;-)

Here's the dish. Retail total was 66.11. After coupons and sales, my total was 26.82 which is a 60% savings.

Here are my deals. A few may have been from the 3 day sale which means you can't get them now. You can always check www.mypricechopper.com. They have a wonderful list making program along with the ads. I pretty much got all these from www.kcpennypinchinmama.com.

This item I didn't get from the site but found it right at the store. Kraft salad dressings were on sale for 2.69. Not that great of a deal. BUT right in front of the dressings were coupons for 1.50/1. Now 1.49 for a decent size Kraft dressing in not too bad. I'm learning to keep my eyes open. Even if I don't get the item right then, I always take a few in case the items goes on sale soon.

2 Walgreens in 1 day

I don't feel like adding all the details today. Sorry. Remember, I usually get my deals from www.bargainbriana.com or www.becentsable.net, so feel free to check them out.

I was very sad on my first trip because I couldn't find the Register Rewards from my last trip! UGHHHH!!! Lost money, don't like that at all!

Oh, and the reason I went twice today is because Wags had a coupon for $5 off any purchase of $25 or more. Needless to say, I broke my shopping list into two smaller lists so that I could get $10 off vs just $5!

First visit, retail 35.26. After coupons and sales, my oop was 19.97 which is a 44% savings. They gave me $5 RR making my final price 15.97 which ended up meaning a 55% savings.

Second trip, my retail was 33.75 (see, I really did break both trips down pretty evenly!) I turned in the $5 from the AM and along with the coupons and sales, my total was 12.28. That's a savings of 64%. They gave me $10 RR back making my final price 2.28 which is a savings of 93%. That's more like it!

2 count them 2 Walgreens runs in as many days

Going to handle both of them in one post...can you handle it?

Here's the details from last night's run. My retail was 59.86, but I paid 10.28 making my savings 83%. I received 8.50 back in RR making my final OOP 1.78 which is a savings of 97%.

Here's some of my best deals. For even more deals, check out www.bargainbriana.com and www.becentsable.net.

Nyquil/Dayquil is 2/9.00 plus $3 RR making the final price 2/6.00. I used 2 coupons for $1.50/1 from 11/1 PG which made my final price 2/3.00 or 1.50 each.

Dial foaming hand soap was 1.99 plus $1 RR making it .99. SS 10/4 had a coupon for .35/1 making the final price .64.

Gilette Body Wash/Deoderant 2/$8. Receive $2 in RR making it 2/$6. I had a B1G1 Q from 11/1 PG which means I paid 2/$2.

Ricola Cough Dropsw were on sale for 1.29 with coupon from ad. Combine that with a B1G1 bag of Mixed berry free from 10/11 SS and you have 2 for 1.29 or .65 each.

Kashi was on sale at 2/$5 or 2.50 each. I had coupons I received from vocalpoint.com for $3/1 which means they paid me $1 to take 2 boxes out of the store.

Today, I went back to pick up some things I missed. I also picked up some Maxwell house coffee which was a good price at 5.99 each and a coupon for $1.00/2 but still messed up my totals some.

Retail was 56.30. I paid 17.02 which is a 70% savings. I received $10 in RR making my final $7.02 which then becomes a savings of 95%.

Deals:
  • Johnson & Johnson First Aid products are 3.99 each plus you receive $8 in RR when you buy 3. That's not a bad deal by itself. But I used $1/1 coupon from SS 8/2 and got 2 more $1/1 coupons from Printable Coupon save $1.00 which means I paid 3 items for 8.97 and then received $8 in RR making it actually .97 for 3 items. (These will go to City Union Mission.)
  • Herbal Essences items are 2/$7 and your receive $2 RR. B1G1 in 10/11 PG means I paid 2/$3.50, received $2 RR making the final price 2/1.50 or .75 each.

Believe it our not, I'm gathering some more deals together to go back. I still have coupons for $1.50/1 Kashi. $1 for a box of Kashi is a VERY good deal. Might score some more Ricola, too.

Second Wags Run of the week.

I don't usually make a second run to Wags during the week but I just couldn't pass up another blood glucose monitor for free. While I did a little research and discovered I could sell them on Ebay, this one I had marked in my for City Union Mission.

I didn't really do any other special deals than what I already listed. I did make sure not to use RR from the last trip on the same items this trip. That is not allowed.

Ok, so my retail at Walgreens today was 100.83. After sales, coupons, and turning in some register rewards, I paid 1.30 which is a 99% savings. They gave me $8.50 in Register Rewards back which meant they paid me $7.20 to take $100.83 of stuff out of their store. Doing the cha-ching dance!

Price Chopper 10/28/09

I ran to Price Chopper last night. The only bad part is that their 4-day sale didn't start until today, so I didn't score anything from that.

Actually, I didn't do too badly especially when you consider that these totals include some sale items I didn't have coupons for and some items that weren't on sale nor did I have coupons for them.

Retail total was 104.86. After sales and coupons, my OOP was 46.69 which is a 55% savings. Half-priced food. It's a good thing.

I only scouted out kcpennypinchinmama.com for deals because littlepeoplewealth.com didn't have their list up. Here's the best deals for me:

  • Quaker Instant Oatmeal Price with card: $1.99 Less $1.25/2 coupon 8-30-09 RP Final Price: 2/$2.73 or $1.37 each
  • Skippy Peanut Butter Sale Price: $1.99 Special Purchase: Purchase 2 and get Oroweat Bread FREE Less $0.40/1 coupon 10-4-09 Final price for 2 Skippy's and one loaf of bread: $3.18 or $1.06 for each of the items
  • Palermo's Pizza Price with card: $1.49 each Less $1.00/1 printable coupon here or Less $1.00/2 printable coupon here Final Price: I paid .49 for a pizza. The other coupon would have been $1.00 each. Still not a bad deal for a pizza.

Well, nothing for free this time but pizza for .49 is pretty good if you ask me!

Free Kashi Granola Bar

Just go to http://kashi.com/tlc_chewy and fill in for a free Kashi granola bar. Pretty much, anything Kashi is good stuff. You don't have to join the "community" if you don't want, but I have in the past and often get Kashi coupons and such.
I found this deal on slickdeals.net. I don't cruise their website usually, but signed up for a daily digest of deals which I check when they send. It's another great source.

Walgreens...I actually made it on a Sunday.

I managed to get my act together and make it to Walgreens today. Actually, I made it to Walgreens 3 times. The first time to purchase and 2 times to correct errors they made in RR and coupons! I've told you before to remember to check your receipts.

The details are a retail amount of $150.92. After coupons and sales, my OOP was 33.49. I received 22.50 back in Register Rewards making my final price 10.99 or a savings of 93%. I have a $5 rebate I need to send in which will bring my final total to 5.99 for a savings of 96%.

Ok, let's see if I can remember all the deals.

  • Breeze 2 or Contour Meter, $14.99$30/1 Breeze 2 or Contour Meter from Bayer from 10-25-09 RP Earn $5 Register Reward Final Price after Register Rewards: FREE or a $14.99 profit if you do the rebate. I will be donating this and a few other items below to City Union Mission since I don't need them. Thankfully! But what a great deal to help others for free.
  • Fiber One or 12 Ct. Beano to Go 12 ct., $2.49 Earn $2.48 Register Reward Final Price after Register Rewards: FREE
  • Super Poligrip Denture Adhesive, $2 $1/2 Polident or Super Poligrip Products from 10-4-09 RP Earn $2 Register Reward Final Price after Register Rewards: Free

Well, I purchased a few more things but those were all the best deals. Got my deals from www.bargainbriana.com and www.becentsable.net.

Price Chopper Run 10/24

Managed to do a Price Chopper run tonight. I wanted to make sure I got in on the 4 day sale which ends on Sunday the 25th. The only thing I got from that sale with coupons was the Yoplait Yogurt and Progresso Soup.

Ok, the facts. My retail was 19.91. I paid 7.86 OOP which made my savings 61%. It's so weird that I have to remind my self that I paid less than half of what a "normal" person would pay. 61% just doesn't sound as good as the 90+% I'm used to at Wags.

Certain Progressive Soups were 10/$10 or $1 a piece. I had a coupon for $1.00/3 that I had printed up previously and can no longer find which made my total .67 each.

Wishbone salad dressing is on sale for $1.49 PLUS if you buy 2 you get a free Dole Iceberg Lettuce Salad. Two coupons for Wishbone for .75/1 from here http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qc1sduv44162784&bt=wi&o=55102&c=WB&p=cZaTdVY5 made the final price 1.48 for 2 salad dressings and one bag of salad.

Healthy Choice frozen meals are 1.49 each. I had 2 coupons for $2/1 from http://www.healthychoice.com/ which meant they paid me .51 to take each meal home.

Last good deal. Hormel Compleat meals are 2.19 each. I had a coupon for B1G1 free that I'm pretty sure I got from All You magazine, but I can't find listed anywhere which means I paid 1.10 for each instead of 2.19.

Kodak Gallery's Million Thanks Giveaway

Kodak Gallery is giving away $15 gift codes for the next few weeks in a promotion with The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Here's the link: http://kodak.promo.eprize.com/millionsofthanks/. You enter you email address and such and they send you a code worth $15.

I made another photo book and even added some pages and only paid $1.99 shipping for a book that would have been over $11. I will add this thought. I will never use Kodak Gallery again of my own volition. I found "new" site was much harder to deal with than Snapfish, Walgreens, or CVS. But for a free photo book, I was willing to load up photos 3 times and finally accidently figure out how to edit them. Yucky but free made the taste bearable. (Oh, and now that it's ordered, I see a lot more options. Blah!)

Mike asked me if I was going to stop scrapbooking and just do photo books. I said I probably wasn't because I like the personal touches of scrapbooking. I am grabbing photo books when I can get them for next to nothing, however, because I am SOOOO far behind in scrapbooking that it's nice to have some photos "done." Also, it saves a step because I can go right from my hardrive to photo book and not have to print them up in between.

Ten Commandments of Couponing

Bargain Briana listed the Ten Commandments of Couponing, and I thought I'd share them. To be honest,

1. Thou Shall Not Used Expired Coupons. Unless it is your stores policy to accept them. Sometimes they will not beep even with expired.
2. Thou Shall Use the Coupon for the Item is intended.
3. Thou Shall understand the requirements & restrictions on the coupon. Read the coupon language carefully. Sometimes there is a certain number you have to purchase or a specific variety is only included on the coupon.
4. Thou Shall Not Decode the Coupon to misuse the coupon.
5. Thou Shall Not Alter Coupons.
6. Thou Shall Not Make Copies of Printable Coupons. Making copies of printable coupons is a big “no no”.
7.Thou Shall Not Clear the Shelves.
8.Thou Shall Question Any FREE coupon items for legitimacy. The old adage, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
9.Thou Shall Not Misuse the Self Checkout System.
10.Thou Shall Use Your Couponing Powers for Good Only!

Irregularity...ugh

I'm talking about irregularity in using my couponing skills. Get your minds out of the toilet already! :-)

The really bad thing about not doing Walgreens every week is the fact you lose money. Not just because you don't get free things, but because you don't use your register rewards and they expire. I had to throw several in the trash, and it truly gripes me like I was placing dollar bills in the trash.

Did I do as well as I usually do. No. I just told you I had to throw away money, weren't you reading? :-) Ok, enough. My retail was 48.21. I paid OOP 12.98. I received $2 in RR making it 10.98 which is a savings of 77%.

Some of my deals weren't awesome. For instance, they had generic children's Dimetapp B1G1 free. A good deal for an item that was needed but not a steal.
My best deal was Pert Plus Shampoo. It's on sale for 2/$5. You receive $2 in RR back making it 2/$3. From 10/18 SS I used a 1/$1.50 and an 1/$1 which made my total 2/.50 or .25 each bottle of Pert.

I got the deals I did use from scoping out bargainbrian.com, becentsable.net and couponmom.com.

I missed Price Chopper this week. Hopefully, I will start fresh tomorrow.

Price Chopper & Walgreens

You know what? Homeschooling 1st grade takes more time than homeschooling kindergarten. With that thought in mind, I will only be posting my totals this time instead of including my good deals. Well, Price Chopper will change tomorrow anyway!

Price Chopper's retail total was 89.18 this includes a few items we needed that were not on sale nor had coupons. After sales and coupons, my OOP was 47.94 making my savings 46%. I don't think that's bad at all especially when you consider it includes several items that didn't have a sale or coupon discount at all!

Walgreens. At Walgreens, remember that you can use both their in-ad coupons and regular coupons on the same items. My retail total was 88.87! After sales and coupons, my total was 11.87 which is a savings of 87%. They gave me $7 in RR which made my total 4.87. That's a 95% savings.

A new way to make money off couponing

So, if you've been couponing for awhile, you should have a stockpile going. Of course, my first use of stockpile is to give to people or ministries. Somethings, however, are just not that conducive to donating. I had some ladies' razors with bikini trimmer for instance. Guess what! People buy them on Ebay! Now I'm able to combine my old money maker, Ebay and my new money maker/saver, couponing. Those razors that I got for only about a dollar a piece I just sold for $6 each. They usually run for about $12 each, so the people got a good deal as well.

So now, you can not only buy coupons on Ebay, but sell what you get with those coupons on Ebay as well!

That's what I'm talking about

More or less that is!
Walgreen trip. Retail was 40.62. After sales, coupons, and Register Rewards, my toal was 16.89 which is a savings of 58%. But then they gave me $22 back in RR which means they paid me $5.11 to take $40.62 out of their store.

So here are my deals....
  • Hershey's Candy Bars $0.49 (with insert coupon) Use $0.55 coupon from 8/23 SS Final Price: FREE plus overage

Price Chopper 9/26

I went to Price Chopper late on Saturday evening because I knew I wouldn't be allowed to shop on my birthday! I did an average job at Price Chopper, but there were a few excellent deals I got.

My retail total was 58.26 and after sales and coupons, my total was 39.41 which was a 32% savings. Again, not as good as Walgreens, but not bad.

But here are some of my deals that I scored because I had asked for free samples, signed up for Vocalpoint, or sent in for a rebate of coupons.

  • Honey Nut Cheerios was on sale for 1.49. I had a coupon for $1/1 from a sample making it only .49.
  • Kashi Sunshine cereal was not on sale. It is priced at 4.99, but I had received a sample and a coupon for one for free, so it was FREE.
  • I got 2 gallons of milk for only .89 a gallon. The coupons I had received from a rebate was $2 off a gallon of milk when I purchased 2-100 Calorie Nabisco treats which I was planning on doing anyway.

Ok, just had to prove my point about getting samples and signing up for Vocalpoint.com!

Happy Birthday to Me!!!!

I know I've probably mentioned before about the benefit of signing up at restaurant sites, but your birthday is when you really notice the benefits.

On Wednesday, Mike & I at at Red Robin for free. I'm sitting here with a coupon for a free meal at Ryan's or Hometown buffet, a free regular creamslush from Sonic, a B1G1 Orange Julius, a free blizzard from Dairy Queen, a free dessert from Frazzoli's, Denny's free dessert with purchase of an entree, a free swirl shake with a roastburger purchase from Arbys and a free meal at BD's Mongolian BBQ.

Will I get them all? Probably not. I need all them like a need a whole in the head! I will probably try to score the free meals at least.

Walgreens run this week

Finally, I got to make a Walgreens run in I don't know how long! It's been long enough, however, that I had no Register Rewards to use. I did well enough without them, though, that the lady behind me was impressed and wanted more information.

Ok, retail was 58.64. After coupons and sales, the amount was 22.35 was a 62% savings. What got the lady though, was when I received $10 in RR making my final total 12.35 which was a final savings of 79%.

I perused bargainbriana.com, becentsable.net, and couponmom.com to get the best deals. It really is interesting how one can find a deal on one item while the other finds a different deal on another product.

Here's my best deals:
  • Oral B Indicator Toothbrush 2/$4. B1G1 coupon from 8/23 SS plus $2 in RR makes it FREE.
  • Thermacare Heat Wrap 2.49 and receive 2.49 in RR making it FREE. Then Use $1 printable coupon HERE and they pay you $1 for it.
  • Aquafresh Iso-Active Toothpaste 3.49. Use $1/1 from 9/20 RP or printable and receive $1.50 in RR making the final price .99.
  • Bic Women's Soleil razors are 4.99. Receive $1 in RR and $3/1 coupon form 9/20 SS making the final price .99.
  • Cambells cooking soups (cream of mushroom and cream of chicken) are .89 each with a coupon from the sales ad. Use $1/2 printable coupon Hhere (IE) or here (FF) and it makes the final price .39 each.
  • Aussie Hair Care 2.99. Receive $2 in RR with the purchase of one. Purchase 2 using the $2/2 coupon from 9/13 RP and you get 2 bottles for $2 or $1 each.
  • Glade 4 oz. candles 2/$5 and get $1 RR making it 2/$4. Use the $3/2 from 8/9 SS making the final price 2 for $1 or .50 each candle.

Well, I purchased a few more things but the items listed above were probably my best deals. I need to work on a Price Chopper list now. Yes, my boycott of CVS is still on which, of course, hurts them tremendously since they usually pay me to take things of their store. ;-)

Free tokens

Chuckie Cheese want's your children! :-)
They offered a summer reading program; how they are offering a "Let's Get Dressed" calendar rewarding children who get up and get dressed for 2 weeks. Vocalpoint

There are many sites that give out samples, but one of the best ones I've joined is Vocalpoint. Vocalpoint is affiliated with Proctor and Gamble. The site has helpful ideas, surveys, and samples. Sometimes you have to request them and sometimes I just get them in the mail. Also, they sometimes sent coupons alone or in addition to the sample. What's really cool about the coupons is that often, one coupon is for a free item and the others (meant to share with others or hoard for yourself) are usually for a "nice" amount liked $1/1.

So go to www.vocalpoint.com to sign up!

Price Chopper

Finally, hopefully, getting back to my couponing. The start of school and CVS boycott kind of through me for a loop for a bit.

Did pretty well at Price Chopper this week. To check out the deals I chose from go to www.littlepeoplewealth.com and www.kcpennypinchinmama.com.

I purchased $85.35 worth of groceries for 36.57 which is a savings of 57%. That means that I paid .43 for every $1.

Saving money on college text books

For those who may not know, my husband is in college. Well, hopefully, he'll be finished after this semester, so we won't have too much longer to use this wonderful idea, so I thought I'd pass it on. I actually got the idea from a homeschool group.

Mike almost didn't make it to classes this semester because we literally had no money for his textbooks. It was disheartening since it was the last semester, but you know most of those textbooks easily run $50-100 each!

He was able to do classes after all thanks to the public library. All of his books were available through inter-library loans. Some were an edition or two off, but that's not usually a major deal.

Who would have thought about getting your textbooks for free from the library!! Well, obviously someone did!

Boycotting CVS

You all have seen how much I can make off of CVS, but I must now boycott it and hope you will join me.

In case you have not heard, a group called Color of Change decided they wanted to boycott Glenn Beck's show because in an interview on another show, he said that Obama was a Nazi and hated the white race. Color of Change then began pressuring companies to stop advertising during his show. CVS is one of the companies that crumbled under the pressure.

I'm not saying a person has to agree with Glenn Beck, but he has the right to free speech as much as anyone. I don't feel that CVS or any of the other companies have a right to attempt to limit a person's free speech. There are so many other shows on that are truly offensive that to choose Glenn Beck shows a definite political agenda.

I even called CVS Corporate offices to verify if this was true and the representative proudly told me that it was. I explained that it offended me that they were taking this stand and if they didn't want to offend anyone, they would end up not advertising at all since I'm sure everything they advertise on could offend someone.

And yes, I will also try to avoid the other companies as well. They are:
CVS-Caremark
Sargento Cheese
GEICO
Ally Bank
Broadview Security
Progressive Insurance
State Farm
Men's Wearhouse
S.C. Johnson
Procter & Gamble
Lawyers.com
Radio Shack
Healthy Choice (ConAgra)
Plavix (Sanofi-Aventis)
Travelocity
(Rumors also have included Walmart and BestBuy, but they are not validated at this point)
Please go to the companies listed and let them know how you feel about this issue. Again, to me the issue is not so much if I agree with Glenn Beck as much as it is protecting the right of free speech.
Go to http://www.defendglenn.com/index.html for more information and updates.

Walgreens---I'm not happy

Walgreens was offering a 15% off coupon yesterday and today. So, first, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to share it with you. But if it makes it any better, I didn't use it either!

I printed it up, went off to the store, and realized it was still laying on the floor in front of the printer! UGH.

Ok, since my visit was late in the week, there were many things already out of stock, so I may try to make another trip to another...or not.

Ok, retail cost was 21.57 and after sales, coupons, and Register Rewards, my OOP was 6.99 which is a savings of 68%. BUT you know you can't leave it there. They gave me $9 in Register Rewards which means in the end they paid me $2.01 to take 21.57 worth of stuff out of their store.

CVS this week

Once again, CVS has a load full of free school supply. Once again, however, they were all gone by the time I got there today. BUT, I asked for rainchecks so I'll still be able to get those items.

My retail was 29.10. After sales, coupons, and ECB, my OOP was 6.56 which was a 73% savings. Of course, it didn't end there. I received $9 in ECB which means they paid me $2.44 to take $29.10 worth of product out of their store. It would have been more if they had those school supplies in stock!

I'm glad I checked both bargainbriana.com and becentsable.net, because becentsable.net had some things bargainbriana didn't. Here's the deals I purchased:
  • If you purchase $10 in select products from Ragu, Skippy, Lipton, Hellmann's, you get $3 in ECB. I purchased 4 Ragu at 2 for $4 and 1 Skippy at $2. Use 50¢/1 Skippy coupon from the 8/2 R and TWO $1/2 Ragu printable coupons. I got $3 back in ECB, so that made my final price for those 5 items 88 cents each.
  • Softsoap Nutri Serum Bodywash is 4.99. After $4 in ECB it makes the final price 99 cents.
  • Dawn dish liquid is .99. I had a .50/1 coupon from 8/2 P&G making it 49 cents.

So there you go. Those were my best deals. I still need to get my Wags together!

Monday, August 3, 2009

Free Samples

Another way to save is to get freebies/samples.

Frequently throughout the week and definitely on Fridays, www.bargainbrianna.com posts samples and freebies and such. Today she mentioned a free sample and $1 coupon for Honey-Nut Cheerios.
Here's the site: http://sample.nonchallenge.com/HNCFY10/Default.aspx

Finally, CVS, Wags, and Price Chopper this week

You know, living with a bathroom in the middle of "renovation" puts a cramp in living. Which is why, in part, I'm finally getting around to my rounds. I'm very disappointed, though, because it means I missed all free things I could have gotten at CVS earlier in the week. Well, I still did pretty well there anyway.

Since tomorrow starts a whole new week for CVS and Walgreens, I'm not going to go into details about my savings since I don't think most of you will be running out within the next few hours to score the same deals!

Walgreens was a little disappointing compared to usual since I only had $1 in RR and no coupons! My retail 28.42 was only reduced by 23% to 21.97. I did receive $5 in RR making my final total 16.97 or 40% savings. That's my usual grocery store savings, not Wags! Oh well.

At Price Chopper, however, I did an awesome job. My retail was 21.69 and after sales and coupons, I paid 4.70. That's a 73% savings. Yippee!! I don't usually do that well at grocery stores. found my deals on www.kcpennypinchinmama.com
  • The first best deal: Bic pens. They are on sale for 2 for $1.00. Get a coupon from www.coupons.com for $1/2 and they are free. I walked out with 6 packs of pens for nothing.
  • Kellogg’s Pop Tarts, Selected Varieties---Price with card: $1.49 Less $0.55/1 coupon 6-7-09 RP (exp. 8-2) or $0.55/1 Blueberry Muffin here Final Price: $0.94
  • Sunshine Cheez-Its---Price with card: $1.99 Less $0.75/1 coupon here Final Price: $1.24
  • Hunt’s Ketchup--Price with card: $0.99 Less $0.20/1 coupon 6-21-09 SS Final Price: $0.79
CVS was the best deal. My retail was 36.01. After sales, coupons, and ECB, my OOP was 7.31 which was a savings of 80%. Then the gave me $8 back in ECB making my final cost....FREE.

Also, if you have an Extra Care Card from CVS (which you should have by now), you also get a few gift from CVS in August the first time you use your card. My free gift coupon is for a bottle of aspirin. OK, it's not that great...but it will be free when I turn it in!!!!

Price Chopper on Saturday

Made a Price Chopper run on Saturday morning. Surprisingly, it wasn't too busy. I had warned Micki that I was going to be taking some time thinking about things, and it wasn't until about the last 5 minutes she started asking, "Are we done yet?"

I'm not going to list everything I purchased, but I did make good use of the two Box Top for Education deals I mentioned below...I purchase 6 boxes of Hamburger/Chicken Helper and 9 boxes of Cheerios. That's what's called "stocking up." I was actually out of cereal, so the timing was great on that one.

I actually did a little better than usual for a grocery store run. My retail was $181. After coupons and sales, my OOP was 71.77 which is a savings of 60%. That means, I walked out of the store with $109 worth of groceries I didn't have to pay for. Wow, I like the thought of that!

Now, I've pulled off my 12 UPCs, circled the items on the receipt, printed up the form and am getting ready to send in for my 100 Box Tops. You may wonder why a homeschooler would care about Box Tops. Two words. Homeschool group.
