I ended up having to purchase a $0.59 candy bar because my coupons would take me over zero.
So my retail was $15.96, but I paid $0.57. That's a savings of 96%. Then I received $4.50 in RR which means I was paid $3.93.
The Proverbs 31 woman is a challenge to all of us. This blog is an attempt to apply "She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar" (ESV) in my everyday life through couponing and money-savings tips. Here I share what I do and learn.

More Birthday Gifts--kind of
I've been attempting to report on my "gifts" for my birthday month. The totally free meals are still yet to come!
Aveda mailed me a postcard. I get "a free Personal Blends Pure-Fume Spirit or body care product (worth up to $25) custom-blended with the aroma of my choice." Now that's a present!
Compare that to Walgreens where I received:

That's right. I get 500 of the points I don't like!
But that's still better than Dove which sent me a link for a chance to win a prize. It's my birthday! All I get is a chance? I means at least send me a high amount coupon no one else gets!

Walgreens Work Out
Did you score your $1.50 for a 12 pack of TP on Sunday? It was only a Sunday deal because it involved a IVC that started for August and a RR that was for July. Combine the two along with a coupon and TaDa! That was $10 in TP for $3.00 which is a savings of 70%.
Now, on to the weekly stuff.
First I went to the SavingsLifestyle.com
Dawn, 10.3 oz - $0.99
$0.50/1 Dawn Dish Detergent 07/31/11 P & G Insert (exp 08/31/11)
Betsy's Price $0.49

Pantene Expressions Hair Care 2/$7
Get $2 RR wyb 2

Final Price: $0.75 each
Plus I stocked up on Paper Mate Highlighters for $0.49 each.
I actually made this three different transactions. It was pain especially when something I planned for was out of stock. It seemed to have made a difference in my initial OOP, so I ended up with more cash saved but less RR in the end. So basically, The amounts were the same, but the difference was cash spent vs. Register Rewards earned and taken away.
Retail OOP % Saved RR earned Earned
$12.67 $0.51 96% $4 $3.49
$15.47 $3.78 76% $8 $4.22
$16.16 $0.88 95% 0
So a total of $5.17 OOP but no RR
If I had purchased it all together, it would have been something like this.
$44.30 $17.17 61% $12
So, OOP would be $17.17, but I would have $12 in RR meaning I paid only $5.17.
See what I mean. $5.17 OOP/ $0 RR vs $17.17 OOP/ $12 RR

Walgreens off the clearance shelf
Well, I had a couple of things planned for Walgreens, but they were out of both. I was a little concerned because I had $9 in Register Rewards that expired today.
I happened to look over the clearance which was in abundance. My Walgreens recently revamped their shelves and layout. Before you say anything, yeah, there were probably coupons out on some of these, but with this being my first time out while recovering from the stomach flu, I just went for the deals.
Betsy's Price: $1.12 a bag (purchased 4)
Approx. savings 75%
Burt's Bees Bee Keeper (Four Balms & a Tin)
$13.99 on Amazon
Betsy's Price: $2.49
82% savings
Scotch Paper Cutter
Regular Price $5.99 (In fact, there was a display of them right beside the clearance rack in which I found it.)
Betsy's Price: $1.74
71% savings
Well, there are my deals. No coupons, but still great deals because I used my RR meaning my final price was FREE. That's a 100% savings! :-)

Back in the saddle again.
I know. I've been lax. Not really lazy. Just "uber poor" as my DD has been singing around the house!
That's just sad. Being too poor to coupon!
But I'm getting back in the saddle again! I decided to start with Walgreens since I have a FREE 8 x 10 collage print waiting to be picked up.

Walgreens Emergency-style
Haven't been posting much because haven't had much to post. Things have been extremely tight, so even have a few $$ to invest in couponing hasn't been happening.
Did I mention things are REALLY tight? So, when I looked at my $6.50 in Register Rewards and they were due to expire yesterday and it was 9:30 PM, I yelped. Yup, literally yelped. I was already in my pjs and since the van is broken and I can't drive the truck, I was left to ask Mike to make a run. Considering our current circumstances, he understood the importance of not wasting $6.50!
I knew I would be pushing it too far to include coupons, so just pointing out a few sale items was going to it.
Even so, he got a good taste of the thrill of victory and some experience using Register Rewards.
The total retail was $12.77. Mike paid $0.75. That's a savings of 94%. Not bad with only some sales and some RR.

Weekly Walgreens
Been busy on my other blog reviewing a book for Gabby Moms. I also know that it's too late to get my deals since I got them last week!
Use with $1 off 2 from Jan. Walgreens Coupon Book
Final Price: $.99
Colgate ProClinical Toothpaste $3.49
Get $2.50 Register Rewards store credit
Final Price: $.99
Pedia Care Cold Relief, 4 oz - $5.99
$4 RR WYB (1)
$1/1 any PediaCare Product
$0.99 each after Coupons/Register Reward!
I ended up paying $2.96. My retail would have been $14.46 which means I had a savings of 85%. I earned $6.50 in Register Rewards, so once I again, I was paid to shop at Walgreens.
You know, it's frustrating when you're working a deal, and you look at your coupon and it's different than the one listed on the site! For instance, BeCentsAble mentioned a $0.40/2 coupon for Cambell's soup. In my area, however, the coupon was $0.40/3 coupon. Not such a great deal. It's also frustrating when you see a great deal listed for RR on SavingsLifestyle.com and you can't get it because they are offering points instead. I have not liked Walgreens points program. It's not as great a deal as CVS' points.
Ok, let's get some cheese for my whine!
Kraft Dressing $1.99

Free Purse Book at Wags
Until Saturday, January 22, Walgreens is offering a Free Purse Book. The code is, get this, PURSE. It's basically the same thing as a small picture book. The size for a purse book is 4.5 x 6. They usually run about $7. I think shipping is only about $2, but don't quote me on that!

Walgreens
I needed to get to Walgreens today because I had a Register Reward that will expire today. It's worth $9 by itself! I'm not going to throw almost $10 if I can help it! Since finances are really tight right now and my hubby doesn't get paid until Friday, I'm probably going to go for a few more "practical" things that might help to see us through verses just good deals that I can stock pile or donate.
Bargainbriana.com, and savingslifestyle.com are my sources except for the Jimmy Dean deal.

Walgreens--I like to get paid to shop!
I checked out BeCentsAble.net, Savingslifestyle.com for some of my deals. I knew my savings wasn't going to be that great because I had no Register Rewards. I'm making a promise to myself that I'm never going back to the Walgreens I went to today if I can help it. They made the whole process much more painful than necessary!

My husband gets a taste of couponing
I felt terrible yesterday. Even missed church. But I had $6 in Jingle Cash/Register Rewards that expired yesterday. That was a lot to waste in my mind, so I asked Mike if he would pick something up and just use it for me. Since it was only showing my card and handing over one piece of paper, he felt that it would be a stretch but he could handle it. ;-)
Walgreens has a Sony DVD player for $29.99 so, that is what he decided to buy since we did need a new DVD player.
Here's the scoop. The retail was $47.99. My DH paid $23.99 OOP which is a 50% savings. He then received $5 in "Super" Jingle Cash back which he thought was really cool which meant in the end, he paid $18.99 which is a savings of 60%.

I have a lot of RR/Jingle Cash that expires this coming Friday and Sunday, so I need to make sure not to waste it! Of course, part of the challenge is getting points instead of RR. I don't usually make the effort for points.
I actually made my list back on Sunday, but didn't get there until yesterday!
First, I checked out The Savings Lifestyle and then BeCentsAble.
$0.99 Stove Top Stuffing, 5 oz w/ Walgreen’s Weekly Ad Coupon ~ Limit 3
$1/2 Stove Top Products
Net Price $0.49 each
$0.99 Chex Mix, 8.75 oz
$0.50/1 Chex Mix
Net Price $0.49
Hall Cough Drops $0.99
$1/2 from a display
Final Price: $0.49
I ended up saving 98%. I paid $0.40 for $23.62 worth of items.

Walgreens
I had those $22 in Register Rewards from Black Friday, so I was eager to go to Walgreens. I got my deals from Bargain Briana.
Now, on my first deal, Briana mentioned RR, but here we get 10X the points when you buy 2.
So, Quaker oatmeal 2/$5.
$2/1 coupons that was printable a few weeks ago. Use 2 coupons.)
Final Price: 2/$1 or $.50 each box!
Wrigley’s Eclipse Gum (12 pc) – 3/$2
Earn $1 “Jingle Cash”
Final Price after “Jingle Cash”: 3/$1
SalonPas Pain relief Patches (5 pk) – $5.99
Earn $5.99 “Jingle Cash”
Final Price after “Jingle Cash”: FREE
There were other deals she mentioned but I got points instead of RR for them which made them less attractive to me, so I didn't bite.
My retail total was $19.86. I paid $0.24 which is a savings of 99%. I earned $7 in RR which means I was paid $6.76.

My Black Friday
I usually don't do much in the way of Black Friday.
The one thing I do get up for is the sale at the Plus Size Consignment Shop here in town. The sale starts at 50% if you arrive between 6AM-7PM and drop a little each hour until noon. They usually provide free breakfast for their customers. I was devastated when I walked in and there was no breakfast even though it had been advertised!
Oh well, I still spent $32 which was at 50% savings. So, retail there would have been $64 and who knows how much the clothes were originally.
I also hadn't made a Walgreens or CVS run in weeks. I decided since I was going to be up anyway, I might as well make some runs there. I also made sure to do my free collage print before I went, so I could pick it up during my shopping.
Since I'm "a little rusty", I'm not going to take the time to list all my deals. I found most from Bargainbriana.com.
At Walgreens, my retail would have been $41.19 including my free 8x10 collage print. I paid $22.41 which is a savings of 46%. Not as good as usual except I received $22.24 back in Register Rewards. That make a total savings of almost 146%!
I didn't get as much at CVS. My retail was $9.66, but I paid $3.67 making a savings of 62%. I received $1.99 back in ECB which made my total $1.68. That means I ended up with a savings of 83%.
And so ends my Black Friday.
