HyVee...where there's a helpful smile in every aisle!

Well, that's what the commercial states.

Went to PennyPinchinMom.com for some deals.  This will include some deals from the 3 day which ends today.

Hormel Always Tender Whole Boneless Pork Loin, $1.98/lb Limit 2
Use $1/1 Hormel Always Tender Product (Print 2)
Betsy's Price: Still expensive, but cheaper than normal.  Each pork loin still cost over $13, but look how much meat I'm talking about here...
One fills up my big crock pot, and it's lean so there won't be much shrinkage.

Old Spice Deodorant, 2/$3 or $1.50 each
B1G1 Old Spice Body Spray WYB Red Zone Product 7/3/2011 P&G Insert (exp 7/31/2011)
B1G1 Old Spice Body Wash WYB Old Spice Deodorant 6/5/2011 P&G Insert (exp 7/31/2011)
Betsy's Price: 2 Deodorant, Body Wash and body spray  $3 or $0.75 each
This was an excellent deal considering the body wash was $3.98 and the body spray was $4.48.  That makes my savings on these Old Spice items around 78% off of retail on these four items.

It's not much, but since I knew I wanted the pork anyway, it was worth the effort to see if there was anything else.  That's when I thankfully, ran into the coupons for the meat, too!

We also filled up since our HyVee offers $0.10 off per gallon on today's receipt.  At Price Chopper, you have to buy $100.00 worth of stuff in order to earn $0.10 off per gallon.  At our HyVee, you can purchase a candy bar and get it!  Can you tell why I've been going to HyVee more than Price Chopper?

Price Chopper? I sure did.

I know.  I can't even remember how long it's been since I went to Price Chopper.  Since we moved to the other end of town, it hasn't seemed worth the effort.  But who am I kidding?  If I can get the deals AND possibly save some gas money with their Rewards Card, who am I to complain or doubt?

Penny Pinchin Mom, Little People Wealth, coupons I've gathered for freebies, and ideas from some friends were my sources.  I'm glad I checked out Penny Pinchin Mom because she had a lot more posibilities than Little People did.

New Price Chopper Rewards Card

Penny Pinchin Mom did a wonderful job explaining about the new Price Chopper card, so I just copied it for you.  This is for the Price Chopper in the KC area.  I'm excited because it's a reward program which means I'll get something back in addition to what I'm trying to save!

Well, I know many of you already know about Price Chopper’s newest feature – but in case you don’t — it is a NEW Rewards card! This one will replace your current card and has a LOT more features available to you! Read on to learn more.

HOW DO I GET A NEW CARD?

Simple! Starting tomorrow, April 14th, when you walk into the store, you will see a table set up with Price Chopper employees ready to help. They will scan your old card and download all of your information directly onto your new card. So that means — no paperwork!

At this same time, they will verify that your personal information will be verified. So, if you moved and never thought about updating your Chopper Shopper Card – you can do so right away.

WHY A NEW CARD?

Simply put – Rewards and Coupons.

One feature (coming soon) will be the ability to load COUPONS onto your card! These coupons will be available on Price Chopper’s website and will consist of both store (as available) and manufacturer’s coupons. That means you can upload some coupons to your card and don’t have to worry about leaving the paper ones at home! When your card is scanned, the system will “watch” for items you purchase that match up with the coupon loaded onto your card and then automatically deduct it from your total.

You will also earn rewards. Price Chopper has partnered with local merchants to help you save not only on your groceries, but when you shop around Kansas City. You can find the full list of Rewards available in the stores, but here are a few that I thought looked pretty great:

A.B. May – $20.00 off of a service call
BB’s Lawnside BBQ – Buy One Sandwich at regular price and receive a second sandwich at half price
Westlake Ace Hardware - 20% off all GE Light Bulbs
Hereford House & Prime Rib Grill – Free Appetizer with Purchase of Two Entrees (up to $10.00 value)

I know that they are working on other great deals as well!

MUST I GET A NEW CARD?

Nope! At this time, both cards can be accepted when you shop. However, you will not earn any of the rewards (see FAQs that follow) or be able to take part in some of the in-store specials that you will find. At this time, there is not a date in place to discontinue use of the old card. If that changes, I will be sure to pass that information along to you.

WILL I STILL RETAIN THE SAME CARD NUMBER?

Your Chopper Shopper Card number will remain the same if:

* You have your old card with you when you get your new card. When your old one is scanned, all information – including your card number – will be uploaded to the new card.

* You complete a paper application for a new card and indicate your old card number.

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN UPROMISE?

The Ball’s Organization is a part of the UPromise Program. So, if you are signed up for this program, you should have to do nothing — as long as you follow the steps to retain your current card number. At this time, none of the other stores actively participate in UPromise.

If you are not sure what UPromise is, you can read more here.

WILL THE CARD OFFER ME OTHER SPECIAL DEALS?

There will be in-store specials that you can get only by using your card. Starting April 21st, you will find special deals in the store — just look for this logo:

Here’s a sneak peek of the April 21st deals you will see in the stores:

* Keebler Fudge Shoppe Cookies, 8.5 0z – 15 oz: Buy 5 – Get 1 Free

* Dannon Activia Yogurt, 4 pack: Buy 5 – Get 1 Free

* Dole Salad Blend Kits, 5 – 14.2 oz: Buy 5 – Get 1 Free

WHAT ELSE WILL THE CARD PROVIDE TO ME?

The card will actually PAY you to shop! The card will track your purchases and award points. When you make a purchase, you will be able to see how many points you earned by looking at your receipt. The points are accrued only on qualified purchases — see www.mypricechopper.com for details.

You can even log into your account on-line and view your points balance at any time! The points are earned during one period and redeemable in another. So, the first round of points will be earned during your shopping trips from April 19th – June 22nd. They will be credited to your card on June 23rd. Then, when you shop from June 23rd – July 7th, your cash back balance will be deducted from your total purchase — automatically! No coupons. No papers to print. Nothing to remember. It thinks FOR you!

Here is the breakdown of points and cash back levels:

500 Points – $10.00 in free groceries

750 Points – $20.00 in free groceries

1000 Points – $30.00 in free groceries

1500 Points – $50.00 in free groceries

One thing to keep in mind is that your free groceries credit can not be used on liquor, tobacco, pharmacy, lottery, lotto, postage stamps, gift cards, money orders, tax and other service items. For example, if you have $20.00 in credit to use and you spend $15.00 on groceries and $5.00 on stamps, only $15.00 will be deducted from your purchase and you will need to pay $5.00 for your purchase. The remaining $5.00 credit will stay on your account until you make your next qualified purchase. You will not lose your credit – unless you do not spend it by the end of the redemption period.

A feature that will be coming soon is the ability to sign up for Personalized Savings Alerts. This feature will allow you to receive an e-mail when your favorite foods will go on sale. You will be able to opt-in and add this feature very soon. I will watch for this and be sure to watch the website as well for details.

This was a hard secret to keep – especially when some of you already knew and shared it with me. I couldn’t say anything about it – but I told you that it would be worth it – and it certainly is! Be sure to stop by www.mypricechopper.com as the website is also getting a face lift and should be even easier to navigate.

Price Chopper 1/31

A lot of these are from the 4-day sale which ends today, so you won't be able to score the same deals, but remember, if you really want do well, you're going to need to do some research every Wednesday. Becentsable.net has the Grocery Gathering at http://www.becentsable.net/Default.aspx?pageId=331691 where you can check your local grocery stores. I use kcpennypinchinmama.com for the KC Price Chopper chain. Oh, and going the last day of the sale can also mean they are out of stock of things.

Here's the deals I got:

Remember to always check for coupons in the aisle. I had planned to purchase a few bananas and some bags of salad just because we needed them. They weren't on sale, but I happened to see a coupon for purchase 2 bags and get bananas free (up to $1.75). So a grabbed a few more bananas to make sure I got the full value of the coupon (and picked up a few more coupons since they don't expire until March). I ended up getting over 3 lbs of bananas for $.16 or just over $.05 a lb!

All that said, my retail price for my shopping list was 48.42. After sales and coupons, I paid 18.92 which is a savings of 61%. I really like thinking about me paying less than half then the next person in line did!

This item I didn't get from the site but found it right at the store. Kraft salad dressings were on sale for 2.69. Not that great of a deal. BUT right in front of the dressings were coupons for 1.50/1. Now 1.49 for a decent size Kraft dressing in not too bad. I'm learning to keep my eyes open. Even if I don't get the item right then, I always take a few in case the items goes on sale soon.

Price Chopper 10/28/09

I ran to Price Chopper last night. The only bad part is that their 4-day sale didn't start until today, so I didn't score anything from that.

Actually, I didn't do too badly especially when you consider that these totals include some sale items I didn't have coupons for and some items that weren't on sale nor did I have coupons for them.

Retail total was 104.86. After sales and coupons, my OOP was 46.69 which is a 55% savings. Half-priced food. It's a good thing.

I only scouted out kcpennypinchinmama.com for deals because littlepeoplewealth.com didn't have their list up. Here's the best deals for me:

  • Quaker Instant Oatmeal Price with card: $1.99 Less $1.25/2 coupon 8-30-09 RP Final Price: 2/$2.73 or $1.37 each
  • Skippy Peanut Butter Sale Price: $1.99 Special Purchase: Purchase 2 and get Oroweat Bread FREE Less $0.40/1 coupon 10-4-09 Final price for 2 Skippy's and one loaf of bread: $3.18 or $1.06 for each of the items
  • Palermo's Pizza Price with card: $1.49 each Less $1.00/1 printable coupon here or Less $1.00/2 printable coupon here Final Price: I paid .49 for a pizza. The other coupon would have been $1.00 each. Still not a bad deal for a pizza.

Well, nothing for free this time but pizza for .49 is pretty good if you ask me!

Price Chopper Run 10/24

Managed to do a Price Chopper run tonight. I wanted to make sure I got in on the 4 day sale which ends on Sunday the 25th. The only thing I got from that sale with coupons was the Yoplait Yogurt and Progresso Soup.

Ok, the facts. My retail was 19.91. I paid 7.86 OOP which made my savings 61%. It's so weird that I have to remind my self that I paid less than half of what a "normal" person would pay. 61% just doesn't sound as good as the 90+% I'm used to at Wags.

Certain Progressive Soups were 10/$10 or $1 a piece. I had a coupon for $1.00/3 that I had printed up previously and can no longer find which made my total .67 each.

Wishbone salad dressing is on sale for $1.49 PLUS if you buy 2 you get a free Dole Iceberg Lettuce Salad. Two coupons for Wishbone for .75/1 from here http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qc1sduv44162784&bt=wi&o=55102&c=WB&p=cZaTdVY5 made the final price 1.48 for 2 salad dressings and one bag of salad.

Healthy Choice frozen meals are 1.49 each. I had 2 coupons for $2/1 from http://www.healthychoice.com/ which meant they paid me .51 to take each meal home.

Last good deal. Hormel Compleat meals are 2.19 each. I had a coupon for B1G1 free that I'm pretty sure I got from All You magazine, but I can't find listed anywhere which means I paid 1.10 for each instead of 2.19.

Price Chopper & Walgreens

You know what? Homeschooling 1st grade takes more time than homeschooling kindergarten. With that thought in mind, I will only be posting my totals this time instead of including my good deals. Well, Price Chopper will change tomorrow anyway!

Price Chopper's retail total was 89.18 this includes a few items we needed that were not on sale nor had coupons. After sales and coupons, my OOP was 47.94 making my savings 46%. I don't think that's bad at all especially when you consider it includes several items that didn't have a sale or coupon discount at all!

Walgreens. At Walgreens, remember that you can use both their in-ad coupons and regular coupons on the same items. My retail total was 88.87! After sales and coupons, my total was 11.87 which is a savings of 87%. They gave me $7 in RR which made my total 4.87. That's a 95% savings.

Price Chopper 9/26

I went to Price Chopper late on Saturday evening because I knew I wouldn't be allowed to shop on my birthday! I did an average job at Price Chopper, but there were a few excellent deals I got.

My retail total was 58.26 and after sales and coupons, my total was 39.41 which was a 32% savings. Again, not as good as Walgreens, but not bad.

But here are some of my deals that I scored because I had asked for free samples, signed up for Vocalpoint, or sent in for a rebate of coupons.

  • Honey Nut Cheerios was on sale for 1.49. I had a coupon for $1/1 from a sample making it only .49.
  • Kashi Sunshine cereal was not on sale. It is priced at 4.99, but I had received a sample and a coupon for one for free, so it was FREE.
  • I got 2 gallons of milk for only .89 a gallon. The coupons I had received from a rebate was $2 off a gallon of milk when I purchased 2-100 Calorie Nabisco treats which I was planning on doing anyway.

Ok, just had to prove my point about getting samples and signing up for Vocalpoint.com!

Price Chopper

Finally, hopefully, getting back to my couponing. The start of school and CVS boycott kind of through me for a loop for a bit.

Did pretty well at Price Chopper this week. To check out the deals I chose from go to www.littlepeoplewealth.com and www.kcpennypinchinmama.com.

I purchased $85.35 worth of groceries for 36.57 which is a savings of 57%. That means that I paid .43 for every $1.

Cha Ching! Betsy's back in town baby!

Finally, CVS, Wags, and Price Chopper this week

You know, living with a bathroom in the middle of "renovation" puts a cramp in living. Which is why, in part, I'm finally getting around to my rounds. I'm very disappointed, though, because it means I missed all free things I could have gotten at CVS earlier in the week. Well, I still did pretty well there anyway.

Since tomorrow starts a whole new week for CVS and Walgreens, I'm not going to go into details about my savings since I don't think most of you will be running out within the next few hours to score the same deals!

Walgreens was a little disappointing compared to usual since I only had $1 in RR and no coupons! My retail 28.42 was only reduced by 23% to 21.97. I did receive $5 in RR making my final total 16.97 or 40% savings. That's my usual grocery store savings, not Wags! Oh well.

At Price Chopper, however, I did an awesome job. My retail was 21.69 and after sales and coupons, I paid 4.70. That's a 73% savings. Yippee!! I don't usually do that well at grocery stores. found my deals on www.kcpennypinchinmama.com
  • The first best deal: Bic pens. They are on sale for 2 for $1.00. Get a coupon from www.coupons.com for $1/2 and they are free. I walked out with 6 packs of pens for nothing.
  • Kellogg’s Pop Tarts, Selected Varieties---Price with card: $1.49 Less $0.55/1 coupon 6-7-09 RP (exp. 8-2) or $0.55/1 Blueberry Muffin here Final Price: $0.94
  • Sunshine Cheez-Its---Price with card: $1.99 Less $0.75/1 coupon here Final Price: $1.24
  • Hunt’s Ketchup--Price with card: $0.99 Less $0.20/1 coupon 6-21-09 SS Final Price: $0.79
CVS was the best deal. My retail was 36.01. After sales, coupons, and ECB, my OOP was 7.31 which was a savings of 80%. Then the gave me $8 back in ECB making my final cost....FREE.

Also, if you have an Extra Care Card from CVS (which you should have by now), you also get a few gift from CVS in August the first time you use your card. My free gift coupon is for a bottle of aspirin. OK, it's not that great...but it will be free when I turn it in!!!!
